The book is largely based on the author’s doctoral dissertation, approved by the Department of History and Archaeology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in September 2012. Its publication was deemed necessary to allow the general public to delve deeper into the new academic field of cultural heritage management and its application in the Greek reality.

The texts of international conventions, the decisions and initiatives of collective bodies within European institutions, the legislative initiatives of individual countries, and funding tools form the fundamental pillars for defining cultural heritage management. In the contemporary cultural landscape, cultural heritage management cannot remain static; instead, it is continually enriched with new data and actions, thereby strengthening a region’s cultural policy. This presentation of the Greek management model offers a modern perspective on shaping both the scientific and technocratic understanding within the sensitive field of cultural heritage.
