Dimitris P. Panagiotopoulos is a Professor of Sports Law at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (affiliated), a lawyer at the Supreme Court, and a member of the Athens Bar Association. His involvement in Sports Law began in 1984, and in 1988 he was elected as a Lecturer at the University of Athens, serving in all faculty ranks.

He is the academic director of the e-learning Sports Law program at the University of Athens and a visiting professor in the Graduate Program of the School of Economics and Political Sciences at the University of Athens. He is an Honorary Professor at Nanjing Science and Technology University, China, and a former Vice President of the University of Central Greece & President of the Research Committee. He is the president of the International Association of Sports Law (IASL) and the Hellenic Center for Research on Sports Law (EKEAD) with significant international scientific activity for 40 consecutive years. He is a member of many social organizations and President of the Association of Donor Scientists (EDEP). He has published numerous books and scientific articles in Greek and international journals on Sports Law, as well as works of social content. His work has been internationally recognized and awarded by prestigious universities, literary and sports organizations.
