Ilias Nikolakopoulos

was born in 1947 in Athens. He completed his secondary education at Varvakeio and studied mathematics at the University of Athens and in Lausanne. He pursued postgraduate studies in probability theory at the University of Paris 6 and in 1984 was awarded a doctorate from the Faculty of Law at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In 1986, he was elected lecturer in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Athens and became a professor in 2003.

For many years, he collaborated with the television station Mega Channel to present election processes. He regularly wrote for newspapers and hosted the historical content program "In Red." He was also the president of the Archives of Contemporary Social History (ASKI).

He passed away on June 30, 2022, at the age of 75, from cardiac arrest while swimming at a beach in Syros, where he was attending the "Hermoupolis Seminars."
